The University Hospital of Bern has launched an important initiative called "M4I" (Material Management for the Inselspital), with the objective to enhance its internal logistics.
Medinorma LLC has been asked for its expertise within a special and transversal sub-project on the use of barcodes. The final report, prepared within 10 weeks with a group of hospital staff, recommends a better use of the GS1 System, which is already widely present on most of the hospital supplies. According the mandate, the report includes not only the logistics, but also the data capture for the purpose of invoicing. The vision of full traceability down to the patient has been part of the report.
