The following reasons have motived the Hospital to adopt GS1 :


 
Interoperability
Identifications used in an homogeneous way (example : GLN's)
Compatibility between external and internal logistics (example : an external supplier delivers office supplies in individual boxes for the ward which had ordered the products. Marking these boxes with GLN make their journey inside the hospital compatible with other logistics tasks)
